Michigan

Well the first game I am going to talk about is the game that happened last night. North Carolina Central (NCCU) visited Ann Arbor. NCCU has played a pretty tough schedule, and are in their transition year to division one basketball. Admittedly this is the first time I have seen Michigan play. I figured them as an below average team. First thing i noticed about this team is they have 11 out of 15 players on there team are freshman and sophomores. Michigan comes in 7-2 to the game. Some of there notable players is Tim Hardaway Jr., Jordan Morgan, and Darrius Norris. Norris is a guard who has some real potential. It will take some time but he could be great player. Hardaway Jr. has some talent as well. Michigan's style of play is a spread out offense and they really like to shoot the three. They put up 29 3's in the game. Shooting wise I wasn't that impressed. They really used there offensive rebounding, and points of turnovers to make up the difference in the game which ended up being 20. NCCU is far below a quality opponent. However the defense that Michigan played was very tough. Mostly man to man, and switched screens. It was really hard for NCCU to move the ball and get good shots.

Final thoughts:
Michigan can beat quality teams if they have a good shooting night. They play good defense and don't turn the ball over. If they do play a good team they will struggle if they can't shoot well. John Beilein has something to look forward to in the future, but for now they are still not a premier team.

The Sunday Night Post returns....

Well tonight I have many things to share with you. I finally went and scanned some cards that I have received from purchases and through the mail in the past few weeks.
First is C.J. and Willie. Both of these cards come from a purchase. I glad I got these because I don't think I have them in my collection. They are tough signers.

Andres Galarraga. The "Big Cat" I really enjoyed watching him play first base for the Braves in the late 90's. He was a good first basemen who could hit well as well. I had been looking to get one of these for awhile, and I am happy to finally have one.

Ryan and Carl were two more from a purchase. I am as happy to get Carl Everett as I was to get the Big Cat. Once again he is a player I enjoyed watching late in his career. He is a great hitter, and last I knew he was still playing in an Independent league.

For the long time followers you are familiar with my Brooklyn Dodger project. Ireceived another one back a few days ago from Jim Gentile. He also added an over sized card to the envelope.
Here is a great article about Jim Gentile (Article Link)
Next is Joel Quenneville. He was the coach of the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks. I am very happy to get this one back. I really like his signature in the silver, and I really like that it is on my own custom card.
Yes!!! A greats of the game sighting. No I haven't given up on this. I just got this back from a private signing. I have practically gotten most that sign through the mail for free. Now I am just waiting to get some of the ones that charge and then also the tough ones. This one was a tough one, and I got it done reasonably cheap. The signature looks great, and I couldn't be happier.

I hope this will suffice for my Sunday Night post. I think that Tuesday m going to try and do my first game analysis. Tennessee plays at 7:00 so look for a 10:00 or so post.

Cody Zeller

So I traveled down to Washington, Indiana to watch Indiana's big recruit for next year Cody Zeller. First of all if you have never been to Washington's gym affectionatlly called the Hatchet house its a great experience. Its a bowl seated gym, and sits about 7090 fans. It wasn't a packed house tonight but I would say 3,000 people were there. They were playing Edgewood which I am sure aren't that great. They played a 2-3 collapsed zone. The zone really cover zeller up a lot. He had about three guys draped on him at all times. It was a fairly close game in the first half. Going into the half tied. Zeller did a nice job on the boards as well as sharing the ball. He didn't have many points. i believe it was about 6. I also liked the way he played man defense. I recall only one guy scoring on him, and that was a guard that hit a three on him. Second half Washington defense really picked up and so did Zeller offense. He scored 12 more points and collected more boards. Through down a few dunks. He is pretty quick once he gets the ball in the post. All in all it was a good night, and I am pretty impressed. A few years in college weight training Cody could be a very big star.

WOW!!

So I am sitting here, and I realize I haven't posted in awhile and I wish had something more to update people on, but the fact is I am moving in a few weeks, and I am afraid to send out to many cards. In January, I will be getting back into the hobby a lot harder. I am throwing around some ideas to help make this blog more than just about autographs. I really want to start talking about more sports. My main idea that I have been thinking about is just talking college basketball. Once maybe twice a week just talk about a game that I watched. I would focus more on the Big Ten because I really enjoy Big Ten basketball. You may see one of these post coming up very soon.

This week in the mail

Well sorry for the lack of post, but not much has been happening with me and autographs. I just haven't had the time to get cards in the mail. I didn't do a Sunday night post because there wasn't much to update you on.

Here are the cards I have from this week

Brody Eldridge
Eric Decker

Brody Eldridge is a tight end for the Colts. He played his college ball at Oklahoma. He has been a steady performer on special teams, and right now is suffering from a rib injury. Eric Decker was a WR for the Golden Gophers. I always enjoy adding Big Ten players to my collection.

Sorry once again for the lack of post, but I will try and post when I get things back in this slow time.

This week in the mail

Well it has been a rather slow week in the mail again. Today I received some cards I had purchased in a grab bag type deal. I was happy to add 4 cards to my collection that I didn't already have. Pictures are coming right after this paragraph. Also I received one hockey card back in the mail. Then last but not least I received an 8x10 of Scott Rolen that I purchased for an outstanding price, and I am very happy to have it.

This next card I'm not going to lie is pretty sweet. An auto patch from Houston Street.
Then lastly the only card I have received through the mail that I have sent out this week is the hockey player Dave Andreychuck
I almost forgot now time for the Scott Rolen scan.

Sunday Night Post

Its Sunday again, another week has passed. I had a pretty busy weekend which really led to me not getting much done autograph wise until tonight. I got some cards ready to go that I want to send out. Most of them are football.

The list goes something like this off the top of my head
Hanner Perea IU commit 2012
Harrison Barnes UNC freshman
Pat Angerer Colts
Mike Pollack Colts
Tajuan Hagler Colts
Ted Larsen Buccaneers
Niko Koutovities Buccaneers (Forgive the spelling)
Zach Miller Raiders.

That is my list as of now. I want to come up with a few more, but that is a project for later tonight. This week may be a slow week in the mail seeing as the cards going out aren't as frequent, but I think it will really pick up here in about a month or so. School is taking up a lot of my time right now, and after school I have a few weeks where I don't have anything going on so it will be nice just to get some cards out.

Well thanks for reading pleasant week to you all.

what a pleasant day today...

Well its College football Saturday. I have the tailgating stuff ready to go. However before I go I checked the mail, and found three cards in the mail for me today. Two of the three played college football in the past few years. Also I did get an offensive lineman from the Colts Superbowl winning team.

Brandon Spikes

Brandon Spikes played on all those great Florida teams in the past few years with Tim Tebow. He was there anchor on defense as the MLB. Now he is a rookie with the New England Patriots.

James Laurinaitis

James Laurinaitis is a linebacker who played at Ohio St. Now he is playing for the up and coming St. Louis Rams. He is a defensive starter and a good one. I am very happy to add him to my collection, of my new and building up football collection. I have decided that collecting football isn't that bad but I am just sticking to current players.

Jamey Richard

Jamey Richard was a starting lineman during the Colts superbowl victory over the Bears. Right now he is a back up for the Colts. He is part of an excellent offensive line that doesn't give up very many sacks. I am always happy to add some more Colts players to my collection.

Now I can tailgate enjoy your weekend.

Two more customs back

Two more back today. Two from my favorite teams Indiana basketball and Indianapolis Colts football.

Maurice Creek was a promising freshman last year. He ended up hurting his knee, and missed the rest of the season well he is back now, and is ready for his first full season with the Hoosiers.

Kyle Devan is an offensive lineman for the colts. He is mostly playing in back up duty, but is quite a success story. He actually played Arena for a few years before making it to NFL.

Another Horse shoe

Well some of you that follow closely might think this title means I received another horse shoe champion like Alan Francis. Actually I mean I received another Colts custom card back from an offensive lineman Charlie Johnson. Take a look.

Colts, Colts, Colts.

With a title like Colts, Colts, Colts, you would think that I had a huge day in the mail, but I didn't really. I received one. It was a Colts player, but it was a Colts player that played huge in last nights win against the Texans.

Jacob Tamme

Tamme is most likely going to take over the duties of Dallas Clark. Last night he had 6 catches and a touchdown. He played his college ball at UK. Very happy about this return, and I really like his autograph.

Sunday Night Post and week in review

Well it's Sunday once again, and its time for my weekly update post on this weeks plans. Before I get to those plans I am going to show you a few cards I got in the mail late this week that I didn't get to you the day of.

Dane Fife

Dane Fife was a senior leader of the 2001 Indiana national runner up team that lost to Maryland. He was a defensive specialist who was the shut down guy. He had the heart of a Hoosier, and really helped Indiana get back to a championship game. He is now the coach at IPFW. One of my all time favorite Hoosiers!

Keith Brown

Well this autograph didn't come out great, but I am still happy with the success from the former lackhawk defenseman.

The sunday night portion of this post will be short and sweet. For one I am not really sure what I am going to send out this week. I haven't fully thought about it. If I come up with something then I will update you in the middle of the week. The exciting thing of this week for me is I am going to the Monday Night Football game between the Colts and Texans. This should be a great experience. This will be my second game in the new stadium, but the first competitive game, because the last time the Colts rested there starters for the Playoffs.

Thanks for reading,
Seth

Sunday Night Post

Yes its Sunday night already. Another weekend of football complete, and still quite the mess in college football and the NFL. I just actually finished watching the BCS rankings come out for this week, and have started to watch Sunday Night Football. After all this excitement my mind is still on the start of college basketball season that is only a few weeks away. I can honestly say that college basketball is my favorite sport. I can watch any game and almost any team. My heart lies with the Indiana Hoosiers, and I hope they can put together a competitive season.

To autograph business. I have about 20 cards ready to go. Its interesting mix. I have a few NFL players. Brandon Spikes, Eric Decker. Eric Decker played for Minnesota so thats why the interest in his career. He is currently a wide receiver for the Broncos. I also have Rams line backer James Luaranitis. Then I have a few blackhawk players to send to. First former black hawk Lou Angotti who is an older retired player. Then Old Blackhawk who played a key role in their Stanley Cup last year Dustin Byflguie. Then current hawks Jack Skille, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson, and Brian Campbell. Also Coach Joel Quennivelle. A couple of other coaches I am sending too are Tom Crean, Tony Dungy, and former IU player now IPFW basketball coach Dane Fife. A few IU basketball players will also be receiving attempts from me. Derek Elston, Maurice Creek, and Christian Watford. Below are some pictures of the card I am sending.

The rest you will see when I receive them back hopefully. Thats it for my Sunday Night post. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some cards to show you.

First I received the long snapper for the Colts Justin Snow. Then a Wide receiver from the Colts who played at Michigan St. Blair White. Blair has played some games this year to fill in for the injured wide outs on the Colts. Then Last I took a chance again and sent another card to Peyton Manning, and once again he came through for me. I am happy to add another one to my collection. The last card I received today was from a Brooklyn Dodger great Ed Roebuck. One of the last ones of those to come back. All in all an a great day in the mail

Sunday Night Post...Kinda

Alright so my Sunday night post is a little late. I was out of town for the weekend. Got home late tonight watched Sunday Night Football since my Colts were playing. A good win for them. So in this post I am going to update what I got in the mail Saturday. I received two of my Colts customs back. Two great signers from the Colts came through for me. These scans aren't very good. The color affect for some reason doesn't look that good when scanned, but they do look good in person.

Jeff Saturday

Curtis Painter
Before you say why Curtis Painter let me explain. He is an Indiana guy which I like. He played his football in Vinceness in high school then went to Purdue where he was the starter there. I don't really care to much for Purdue, but like I said he is an Indiana guy.

Now to the Sunday night post section. This week is going to be simple to explain. I have sent 8 more Colts Customs. I have gotten about 15 out I believe. I might send out a few Blackhawks customs later this week. Other than that no big plans. I imagine in a few weeks I am going to have a big mass hockey send out. I have a bunch of 91 score and 90 topps hockey to send out. Thats the plan. Keep reading and I'll be back with tomorrow mail soon.

Friday's mail in color.

So today I am happy to bring you the pictures of today's mail.

First we have a hockey player. Mike Lalor. Who was a good defense man in the league.

Then Michah hoffpauir the Cubs first base prospect. He has been back in forth between the minors and the bigs for the past few seasons. I sent this to Iowa and the next day he was called up. I am happy to see this one come back.

Now your probably thinking where did you get that. The guy through a no hitter in the playoffs. Well I splurged a little to get such a quality autograph but I am happy to add this to my collection.

Update can I please get an update

Well I apologize for the lack of updates. However the truth is there hasn't been much to update. Wednesday I didn't get anything back in the mail. Also today I didn't get a chance to check the mail. Tomorrow however I should be able to get scans and all of the autographs I get back in the mail. I hope that this is the case. So don't feel like I have left you hanging because I haven't. This is definitely the longest I have ever kept a blog. So keep reading and I'll keep writing.

Tuesdays Haul

Today i received two envelopes from the long weekend at the post office

First was Jermey Roenick who signed from the address on his website

Second was Petr Klima. The post office did its best work in trying to make sure they were bent but some how they stayed pretty mint. Happy with both successes. They are nice additions to my hockey collection.

Sunday Evening Post

So this is going to be something new I am going to try and do every Sunday night. Just a post on this weeks plans. Well the main plan of attack is to get some more customs out. I have printed off another sheet of 9. They are all Colts players. I also am sending out a few greats of the game cards. I have been waiting on these because they guys work with hockey teams and since the season is back in . Bobby Smith, Brent Sutter, Phil Esposito, and Rogie Vachon. All are very reliable when you send at the right time. I am at 40/87 right now. I am very close to half way complete. I believe that their are 7 players that sign for a fee. which would take me to 47 plus these four would be 51. Then all thats left are the tough ones. There may be a few easy one that I just didn't get back yet. I hope that I can finally get close to completing a set. Thats all that I have planned for this week. Keep reading and keep following.

I would also like to mention real quickly that I am without a computer for the week. I will post who I receive in the mail, but sorry no pictures.

today's stuff

Today's mail brought one of my purchases. I got a super good deal on this Prince Fielder, and was happy to add the slugger to my collection. Although he plays or now maybe played for the Brewers I still think he is a great player.
The next card is one that I sent out in early August. I am happy to see it find its way back to me as well. I already have on Beckham autograph, but I know this kid is going to be a stud for awhile, and I wanted to get him again before he stopped signing. I really like this one better since its on the Allen and Ginter set.

Childhood favorite

As funny as it might sound one of the first Cub players I really remember wasn't mark grace, Sammy Sosa, or Ryne Sandberg. Although all of them are some of my all time favorite cubs Scott Servais who was a catcher for the cubs in the 90's was the first guy I remember. I want to say I was in second grade and I came home from school on a Friday and of course the Cubs play day games at home on Fridays. I walk in and the Cubs are on. Now I wasn't really watching a lot of games then, but I would always ask my dad if they won. They also weren't really good at the time either. For some reason that day I sat down with my dad and started watching the game. It was the bottom of the 8th inning and I can't recall who the Cubs were playing but they were down by two. Scott Servais comes up to bad with two runners on, and hits a 3 run dong into the right center field bleachers. At the time I think he was batting low .200's nothing special, but that didn't matter to me. I thought he was the best player ever. As I have gotten older and followed the sport more I have realized that Scott really wasn't an all star player When I ran across the card I knew I needed to add him to my collection So here it is..

Also today I added another great Brooklyn Dodger. Is it ironic that the day after Roy Halladay throws only the second no hitter in baseball history during the play offs that I get a Brooklyn dodger back? Here it is Clyde King

Dallas Clark

Today I received two autographs in the mail. One I am very excited about. Dallas Clark signed a 8x10 for me. It was custom made by a friend and I am so happy to get it back.

I also received some hockey autographs from Randy Carlyle
